4 easy steps to connect with your professors (and everyone else)
Thursday Jul 08, 2021
Thursday Jul 08, 2021
Ep 104 - We all have those moments, when we have to go meet a semi-authority figure, or straight up authority figure, and we get the butterflies because it is time to eat some humble pie. Perhaps you turned an assignment in late or with incomplete work. Showed up late...again. Popped off at another student, roommate, co-worker, or client/customer.
At some point our human-ness will show itself and we will find ourselves in a hole we dug for ourselves. When these times come about it helps to have an easy system to get the relationship back to connection and on the path toward connectivity.
Professors can be hard nuts to crack. They see hundreds of students a term. They have heard all of the excuses. They know a real reason from a made up bunch of malarkey better than your parents ever did. You might think you are pulling a fast one over on the professor but I can guarantee you they see through a good deal of your BS.
Just hit play and lets dive into how you can connect with your professor so you are leaving an impression that is positive and not the kind they talk about in the teacher's lounge.

Ep 103 - Hierarchical orientation is when you seek validation through the wolf pack, the cliques, the crowd - and we all have those memories of high school which is the ultimate hierarchy orientation. College is your first real opportunity to step out of the hierarchy orientation and cut your own path without every person knowing your name let alone who you are.
The beauty of college is that you can choose who you are going to become, what is going to be important to you, how you are going to push yourself to grow and mature into your highest potential.
Just hit play and let's discuss of hierarchy, external and extrovert compare with territory, internal and introvert.

College (and Life) doesn't have to be a struggle
Wednesday Jun 23, 2021
Wednesday Jun 23, 2021
Ep 102 - Why are humans so hell bent on making life such a struggle. It's like we seek out anxiety and stress. How often do you choose the sugary snack, the argument, the field mindset over any action that would be more advantageous to your growth and the upward momentum toward your best, empowered self.
In this week's episode we get into Stuart Wilde's book, "Life was never meant to be a struggle." I randomly found this book and now I am enamored by it. Just hit play and let's discover how you are creating struggle in your life rather than your highest sense of self - then let's get to evolving toward the version already living inside of us and just waiting for us to recognize it's been in us all along.

Time, Money, Energy, and People
Thursday Jun 10, 2021
Thursday Jun 10, 2021
Ep 100 - There are a ton of choices and decisions to make in your formative years. In fact, it doesn't stop. People who think that at some point you can just put yourself on cruise control and trance your way through life are kidding themselves if they expect that they will learn much of anything on their journey, let alone accomplish what they are seeking in life.
Yes, self-care and relaxation are important, and how you choose to relax and take care of yourself will very much be driven by the time, energy, money, people influence in your life. These four drivers are influencing everything from what you order at restaurants, to the car you drive, to the vacations you take, to the college you attend, to who you love, to your hobbies, and so on.
Just press play and let's discuss how these four driving influencers are guiding your life so you can step into your seat of self-awareness and decide if you are happy with where they are taking you.

Detach, declutter, and release the stories controlling you
Wednesday Jun 02, 2021
Wednesday Jun 02, 2021
Ep 99 - There are stories your mind tells yourself over and over again, further spiraling you into your limitations, and it is one of the most draining activities that a human being can do to themselves - and you do this to yourself thousands and thousands of time a day.
These stories like: I am not smart enough, good looking enough, brave enough, strong enough, worth enough...I don't have enough, I won't ever be enough, etc, etc, etc.
Seriously, there are so many hypotheticals I can name here and they aren't really hypotheticals because at some point every human has had one of these limiting thoughts that tells them they aren't blank enough - and it is time to stop that right now and release that behavior back into the cosmos.
When you detach yourself from these stories, when you declutter your mind from these highly recycled stories that are not serving you - the release lifts the weight of these stories from you and life glides in a way that seems unparalleled.
Just hit play and let's discuss how you can do this for yourself today. Living with demons, or someone else's voice, in your head telling you you are less than is a miserable way to go through life and I think it is time to release that.
Let It Go! and here is how.

Atomic Habits: Cue, Craving, Response, Reward
Thursday May 27, 2021
Thursday May 27, 2021
Ep 98 - Habits are created in each of us the same way. The root of the habit, the consciousness taken into account when the habit is started, and the outcomes the habits creates in our lives - this is where the individual person has their own story to tell.
In Atomic Habits, by James Clear, he outlines how habits are created or broken as such...
Cue: make obvious or invisible
Craving: making attractive or unattractive
Response: make easy of difficult
Reward: make satisfying or unsatisfying
Just press play and let's learn together how bringing this pattern into your awareness can guide you toward creating your best self and stepping into your seat of empowerment.

Why respecting other's points of view is real adulting
Wednesday May 19, 2021
Wednesday May 19, 2021
Ep 97 - Respect other's model of the world. It is the first principle of NLP for a reason. When you can understand that we all experience the world in our own way and because of that we all have our own opinions, beliefs, and values based on our experiences and memories, that we create in our own heads mind you, then you can have empathy for other's instead of conflicting.
This world can seem like a big pile of conflict, conflict, conflict - and you have your own choice to make. follow those with a villain, hero, and victim mentality OR step into the empowerment that comes from accepting the challenger as one who pushes you out of your comfort zone, the creator as the one who pushes you even further, and yourself as the creator of your own life.
You want and desire respect for your model of the world, for your point of view. The real adulting comes when you offer that to someone else even if they don't offer it back.

Listening to yourself or following advice
Wednesday May 12, 2021
Wednesday May 12, 2021
Ep 96 - Other people think they know what is best for you. They will dig their heals in and tell you how you should live your life. They may not even know why something means so much to you nor might they even care to hear your reasons and justifications.
In the end you have to decide what you want to do and then do it with gusto. You are the one living your life and in the end you want to be happy with the person looking back at you in the mirror.

What to do when you don't know what to do
Monday May 03, 2021
Monday May 03, 2021
Ep 95 - You do not manage time, you choose how you spend it. On days like today, when I think the day is going to play out just fine, but...it goes sideways - I ask myself what can I do to get something, anything done, so I feel the day is a win.
Are there times when you feel like you have so much to do you don't know where to start? What about the days when the inner-critic just kicks your butt the moment something goes astray in your day? What do you do when you look around, and even though you know there are things to get done the list seems so unclear or unmanageable that you just slide into a not so great habit - like getting drunk or playing video games and skipping class.
There are things you can do to get your head in the game. First, I would usually recommend that you get your body in the game.
Just hit play and let's see where we can go with this today.
